OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce has named Robert “Storm” Cilley their 2018 Citizen of the Year.
Cilley “has been active in the City of Ogdensburg and surrounding communities for many years – he taught Driver’s Education at OFA for 30 years – he has coached Varsity Softball – been an active member of the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad since 1981 – he has served on the City Council and the Charter Commission, as well. Storm believes in supporting his community and strives to make Ogdensburg a better place to live and raise a family,” the chamber said in a news release.
The chamber’s 2018 Business Improvement Award will be awarded to Julie Hooper, owner and teacher at Julie’s Dance Studio on State Street in Ogdensburg.
The 2018 Outstanding Community Service Award will be awarded to CGSW Racing which includes members Connor Sutton, Gary Hammond, Scott Wright and Will Wheeler who sponsor duathlons and triathlons in the Ogdensburg Marina District.
They will receive the awards at the chamber’s annual dinner on Friday, Nov. 9 at the Gran-View Restaurant.
During the program, there will be a moment of silence to honor recently deceased Ogdensburg native Charles “Chuck” Kelly, which will be followed by a word from his nephew, Patrick Kelly, who will speak on behalf of the Kelly family. “Charles W. Kelly was a big part of Ogdensburg and her community,” the chamber announcement said. “Chuck’s larger than life personality will have a lasting impact on our beautiful city that he loved so much.”
Cocktails start at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $40 pre-sale and $45 at the door.
Dinner choices are prime rib, chicken cordon bleu or broiled seafood platter. Dinner includes salad, rolls, relishes and dessert.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening will include a silent and live auction.
