St. Lawrence County lost non-farm jobs in January compared to the same month last year despite the number remaining flat or increasing in neighboring counties.
According to preliminary figures from the Department of Labor, the St. Lawrence County lost 200 non-farm jobs in January 2019. The total was 37,900, down from 38,100 in January 2018. That's about a one-half of 1 percent decrease.
To the east in Franklin County, the number stayed flat at 18,200 last month and in January 2018.
Jefferson County to the west gained 300 non-farm jobs. They had 40,500 last month and 40,200 in January 2018.
