Curran stockpiling 10,000 tons of wood pellets in Ogdensburg for overseas shipment

The pellets will be shipped to Denmark for burning in a biomass plant there, according to a press release from the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority.

“This is a test run,” said Curran Renewable Energy owner Pat Curran. “If it works for both parties, there will be many others to come.”

Curran’s plant in Massena produces roughly 100,000 tons of wood pellets each year, sold mostly through retailers like Tractor Supply, Lowes and independent wood stove shops.

The venture for the overseas shipment opens up a new market for the North Country firm. “The Port of Ogdensburg serves as a vital link to local industries, jobs, and economic development" said Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority Executive Director Wade A. Davis. “We are pleased to be an exporting partner for North Country businesses.”
