CANTON — Community Bank N.A. has presented Grasse River Heritage with a $1,000 donation to support its efforts to improve Canton’s Grasse River corridor.

The funds will go toward the organization’s plans to develop further opportunities for public enjoyment of Willow Island, including a performance space and other amenities.

“We’re happy to once again support Grasse River Heritage and their efforts in our community,” Community Bank N.A. Canton Branch Manager Marsha Watson said. “As members of the Canton community, we’re proud to call this region home. Grasse River Heritage works extremely hard year-round to ensure our region is an inviting and desirable place to live, work and visit.”

Founded in 1999, Grasse River Heritage has been working on behalf of the Canton community for 20 years. As a nonprofit organization, it receives no tax dollars and relies on volunteers and donors to fund its projects.

During its two decades, Grasse River Heritage has focused on improving the quality of life in Canton with projects such as building Dwight Church Park, opening Heritage Park, and the toxic cleanup and development of an outdoor sculpture garden on Willow Island.
