Bids sought until Mar. 2 for Charles W. Kelly Memorial Park in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- The Chuck Charles W. Kelly Memorial Park committee is seeking bids for the construction of the park until March 2.

“During his lifetime, Chuck Kelly was a community force for the City of Ogdensburg and Northern New York. Through his work and volunteer efforts, it was his personal mission to improve the quality of life for its residents,” a release from the committee said.

“Since his passing, many of his friends, family and the community discussed ways to pay tribute to him. It was decided renaming the former Hamilton Park in Ogdensburg to The Charles W. Kelly Memorial Park (Kelly Park) and building a memorial there in his honor would be a fitting tribute to recognize the selfless service he gave to the North Country. A committee was formed and a landscape Architectural firm was retained to design the memorial. “

The committee is accepting bids for the construction of the Memorial at Kelly Park. Construction drawings and specifications have been prepared and bids are being solicited.

Drawings may be obtained from Matt Curatolo, Ogdensburg’s Parks & Recreation Director, at the Dobisky Center in Ogdensburg for review.

Sealed bids are due by 10 a.m. on March 2, 2020. Bids shall be mailed to the Co-Chairs Debora and Thomas Hannan, 814 Greene S., Ogdensburg NY 13669.

Construction is anticipated to begin this spring. All construction questions shall be directed to Edward M. Basta, Landscape Architect, 128 Somerset Road, Syracuse, New York. He can be reached at 315-425-0179 or 315-374-4986 or Ebasta@twcny.rr.com.

This is an invited bid, though there are other bidders, and the committee reserves the right to accept or reject any bids.
