Assemblyman Walczyk's office praises governor's decision to take regional approach to reopening state

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the state will take a regional approach to reopening “and will make decisions on which counties and regions to open and when to open them based on the facts and data specific to that area.”

A spokesperson for Assemblyman Mark Walczyk, R-Watertown, is praising the governor’s decision.

"Assemblyman Mark Walczyk was one of the first to advocate for a regional reopening of the state. The Assemblyman's office is ready to work with the Governor and other officials to restart the area's economy and get people back to work safely,” said Michael Schenk, Assemblyman Mark Walczyk’s chief of staff.

Dr. Andrew Williams, president of the St. Lawrence County Board of Health, said he thinks it’s possible to reopen regionally, but there are big caveats, including the need for widely expanded COVID-19 testing.

More about that is here.

The governor also announced he will be meeting with President Trump at the White House Tuesday, April 21 to discuss testing.
