Cherish A. (Griggs) Jay and Christopher L. Jay of Potsdam were married September 17, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Potsdam Elk’s Lodge with Justice of the Peace Margaret Garner officiating.

They are the parents of Anna Griggs.

The bride’s parents are Glenn and Barbi Griggs of Winthrop.

The groom’s parents are Dennis and Ann Jay of Norwood.

Groom’s grandparents are Mrs. Shirley Jay of Norwood, and Mary Kinney and Mr. Bill Summerson of Wayland, N.Y.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother Garry Griggs of Malone.

The matron of honor was Kimberly Santangelo and maid of honor was Lisa Richards. Bridesmaids were Kate Summers, Maria Williams, and Marion Enslow. Flower girls were Anna Griggs and Karsyn Summers.

The best man was Jason Jay. Groomsmen were Reed Summers, Garry Griggs, Frank Colbert, and Christopher Bisonette. Ring Bearer was Kurtis Griggs.

The reception was also held at the Potsdam Elk’s Lodge with music provided by JC Entertainment. For the bride and wedding party’s entrance they played an instrumental version of “To Make You Feel My Love” by Billy Joel.

Hair styling for the bridal party was provided by Kristie Jay and her co-worker of In Style Hair Salon in Norwood.

The bride and groom spent their wedding night at the luxurious Litengard Bed & Breakfast in Canton.

Wedding photography was provided by Jessica McCauley and Emily K. Johnston.

Wedding décor was provided by Sharleen Jay and the decorating was done by family and friends of the bride and groom.

The wedding cake was designed by the groom and brought to life by Patty Dean of Norwood.

Flower arrangements were done my Bailey's Florist Shop in West Potsdam.

The bride and groom spent 4 days and 3 nights sightseeing and exploring in New York City.

The couple will reside in Potsdam.

Cherish attended SUNY Potsdam for early childhood education and plans to return to finish a degree in English.

She is the On-Site Director of School-Age Children at Building Blocks Daycare in Potsdam.

Christopher completed a bachelor of arts degree at SUNY Potsdam in December of 2007.

He works as a pharmacy technician at Kinney Drugs in Canton.
