MASSENA -- A Graveside Service for Victoria J. Belfy, age 69 of Massena, NY will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery in Ogdensburg, NY.
Family and friends are welcome to call the Phillips Memorial Home, located at 64 Andrews Street in Massena, NY on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Ms. Belfy passed away on Sunday (December 31, 2023) at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She is survived by one sister, Mary (Chuck) Janikowski of Norwalk, CA; two brothers, Bobby Belfy of Hudson Falls, NY, and Leo (Michelle) Belfy of Highland, OH, and several nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by her sisters, Celeste Johnson, Pauline Belfy, and brother, Ralphie Belfy.
Vicky was born on July 24, 1954, in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (LeClair) Belfy.
She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy, Class of 1972, and continued her education at SUNY Canton with an Associate’s Degree as a Laboratory Technician and worked in Houston, Texas as a laboratory technician before attending Eastern Kentucky College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree followed by a Master’s Degree in Education at St. Lawrence University.
Vicky worked as an eighth-grade science teacher for over 30 years. Her last teaching position was at Brasher Falls Central Middle School from September 1986 to June 2014.
She was well respected by the faculty and admired by her students. She belonged to the St. Lawrence County Science Teachers Association and the NYSUT Teachers Union.
In her spare time, she enjoyed socializing with friends, family vacations, watching movies, great food, and anything to do with water activities.
