CANTON -- The Canton Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 7:39 a.m. this morning at Canton Animal Clinic.

The fire started in the engine bay of a Kia and is not believed to be suspicious, according to Assistant Chief Matthew Kroeger.

The fire delayed morning appointments at the clinic with no injuries reported.

Canton Fire was back in service at 8:05 a.m.

According to a Facebook post by the clinic, a fire broke out in the parking lot just before 8 a.m. with morning appointments expected to be delayed.

"We are currently putting out a fire in the parking lot of the clinic. All humans and animals are safe. If you have an appointment please follow the direction of staff at the parking lot entrance. There may be a delay in morning appointments but we will be up and running as soon as we can. Please avoid the clinic if you do not have an appointment or emergency until further notice," a Facebook post from the Canton Animal Clinic read.

At 8 a.m. clinic staff issued another update, saying the building was safe and appointments were resuming. Staff urged those with appointments to be mindful of emergency personnel and emergency vehicles.

An update posted at 8:40 a.m. said appointments were returning to normal, noting no animals or humans were injured.

"Thank you to all of the first responders for such a quick response time and care for our staff and any potential pets! Thankfully no animals were here and all humans are safe and well," clinic staff wrote.
