Tourism award nominations open for June 12 St. Lawrence County Tourism Dinner

CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Tourism Dinner, which will kick off the summer tourism season, celebrating the growing industry, while recognizing two awardees at the Wednesday, June 12 event, held this year at Canton’s Best Western University Inn.

Nominations and RSVPs can be submitted on the event page which can be found at www.SLCchamber.org.

The ‘Best to the Guest’ Tourism Excellence award recognizes a business or organization that shows ‘commitment to an excellent guest experience, customer service, unique offerings, and attention to detail, which brings pride to St. Lawrence County’.  The award is chosen based on nominations and reviews from Facebook, Tripadvisor, Google and Yelp. Past recipients include (2016) Clarkson Inn; (2017) Robideau’s Mahogany Ridge; (2018) Jake’s on the Water; (2019) Nicandri Nature Center; (2022) North Country Children’s Museum; and (2023) Sherman Inn.

The ‘Best Destination Marketing Initiative’ award recognizes the effort to implement an outstanding tourism marketing initiative raising awareness and attracting visitors to St. Lawrence County. Past recipients include (2016) Hammond Barn Quilt Trail;

(2017) Mare’s Ware’s Arts Fest; (2018) Waddington Party in the Park : Bassmaster Elite Series; (2019) Ogdensburg International Airport;  (2022) TAUNY; and (2023) Explore Massena / Fish Massena.

The Tourism Awards Dinner is open to community leaders and tourism industry partners, businesses and interested parties. The theme of the dinner this year is 'Sustainability, Education, and Engagement' and will feature a keynote speaker on sport tourism, a grant-funded strategy underway now in St. Lawrence County.  The evening will include a networking happy hour where guests are also invited to bring brochures, flyers and business cards to display and share.
