Sydney Garno, a fifth grader at Kennedy School took first place with her rendition of ‘A Thousand Years” dance routine.

The Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club Talent Show was held Friday with students from five different schools competing in two divisions.

In Division 1, Sydney Garno, a Kennedy School fifth grader, danced her way into the hearts of the audience, winning first place with her rendition of “A Thousand Years.”

Tying for second place were Kennedy School fifth grade singer Landree Kelso and guitar player Matthew Sutherland performing “Save Me” while OFA Middle School 7th grader Sophie Gemmill sang the “World’s Smallest Violin.”

In third place, Madill School third grader sang “You Belong to Me” by Taylor Swift.”

In Division 2, OFA 10th grader Logan Moran took first place, singing and playing the guitar, with a performance of “Everlong” by the Foo Fighters.

Tying for second place, Lisbon Central School’s Alexander Dettmer, an eighth grader, played “Sullied Grace” on the piano while OFA Middle School eighth grader Olivia Sias sang a special selection.

In third place, OFA Middle School 8th grader Taylor Richer sang “from the Start.”

The event was emceed by OFA Key Club Sophomore and Club Secretary Azin Paige.

The Key Club thanked the members of the OFA Audio Visual Club for their assistance with the event.

The celebrity judges included former Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club President and SUNY Canton student Jaedyn Awan, Ogdensburg Real Estate Agent and OFA Key Club Alumni Myah Myers, New York University Performing Arts Major and former Key Club President Sloan Ryan and former OFA Key Club Officer and prominent Ogdensburg business owner Misty Fishel.

The Key Club presented a special honorary membership certificate to City School District Audio Visual Director Robert Ladouceur for his years of service to the OFA Key Club and Ogdensburg’s young people.

“He has always been there for us,” said Paige. “Whenever we have asked him for help, he is always there. Plus, just as importantly, he is also there behind the scenes for many organizations in our community. He makes a difference in our community. That’s something our Key Club members do throughout the year. And that‘s why we want to make a special presentation to Audio Visual Director Bob Ladourceur who we would like to make an “Honorary member of the OFA Key Club. Thank you, Mr. Ladouceur,” release form organizers said.
