CANTON -- A St. Lawrence County inmate was charged following an alleged attempted assault while she was confined in the St. Lawrence County jail, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.
Crystal I. Smithers, 45, was charged with second-degree attempted assault, felony, on Dec. 13 stemming from the alleged Dec. 7 incident, officers said.
Smithers was cited and returned back to jail, deputies said.
