To the Editor:

Legislator Rita Curran has my cell number and she’s not afraid to use it. Not that I’m hard to get a hold of. And honestly, sometimes she just calls to catch up; we’re friends. But I’d like the voters to know that Rita Curran is a powerhouse advocate when it comes to representing her district and standing up for St. Lawrence County. 

As we approach the election, it is crucial to remember the outstanding progress made by our St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators, and why we must re-elect Rita Curran to keep that momentum going. Part of the majority, Rita Curran has helped consistently deliver the fiscal discipline and strong leadership the big county desperately needs. 

Under current leadership, the legislature successfully right-sized county government, eliminating wasteful spending. Instead of burying taxpayers in debt, Rita and her colleagues fought to secure the county’s rightful share of tribal compact revenues from the Akwesasne Mohawk casino, ending the need to borrow millions just to pay its bills.

Rita's commitment to Waddington, Louisville and Massena (part) is also evident in how the legislature has protected local infrastructure and navigated complex challenges. She calls me frequently to explain the issues on the ground, advocate for better state policies, and whether it's a local hospital or local government who needs help, she’s always tuned in and doing the right thing. 

We need proven, common-sense leaders who protect our wallets, our roads, and our local economy. Legislator Rita Curran has done exactly that for District 15. I’m glad to call her a friend and proud to endorse Rita Curran's re-election to the St Lawrence County Board of Legislators.
