Rita A. Adams, 71, Norfolk

NORFOLK - The family of Rita A. Adams, age 71, of Hutchins Street, Norfolk, are saddened to report her passing, after a brief illness at Carthage Area Hospital on Thursday January 25, 2024.

The family has entrusted arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid.

Family and friends are welcome to call the Phillips Memorial Home, located at 20 Church Street in Madrid, NY, on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 3:00 pm until time of services at 6:00 pm with Minister Paul D. Slayko presiding.

Rita was born on August 13, 1952, to the late Alfred and Charlotte (Rookey) White in Potsdam, NY. She attended Madrid-Waddington schools. She was married to Steven W. Adams Sr. in February of 1970, that later ended in divorce.

She was employed with ARC for nearly 10 years in Norwood, NY as a direct care provider.

Rita enjoyed the time spent with family and her fur babies “Chuck and Riley”.

She also enjoyed spending time on word searches and puzzle books.

Rita is survived by her loving and devoted children, Kirstie LaVare and companion Michael Abar of Nicholville, NY, Steven W. Adams Jr. of Canton, NY, a family friend Frankie Driscoll, of New York City; grandchildren, Dustin Woods and companion Maranda LaPage of Malone, NY, Dawson Lavare of Nicholville, NY, Wyatt Abar and Cyrus Abar both of Ogdensburg, N; along with three great-grandchildren, Carson, Wyatt and Jaxson.

Rita is also survived by a sister, Connie White and brother, Randy and wife Darleen White both of Madrid, NY, along with many nieces and nephews.
