CANTON -- State police are investigating a fatal accident in Canton that claimed the life of a senior man from Rensselaer Falls.
On January 4 at approximately 5:08 p.m., state Police members responded to a vehicle-pedestrian fatal accident on County Route 14, in the town of Canton.
The pedestrian, Jude E. Folk, 77 of Rensselaer Falls, was deceased, according to police.
An investigation determined a black 2018 Ford Escape, traveling west on County Route 14, struck Folk who was walking across the roadway.
The operator of the Escape, Chelsea R. Smith, 24 of Madrid, NY was uninjured.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) all responded to the scene to investigate.
Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue assisted with the scene.
This is still an ongoing investigation, no charges have been issued at this time.
