OGDENSBURG – Tickets are selling briskly for a performance of the touring sensation “Four by Four” May 11 at 4 p.m. at Ogdensburg Free Academy auditorium, according to Ogdensburg Command Performances Administrator Sally F. Palao.
“This is a popular show and there aren’t a lot of tickets left,” said Mrs. Palao. “I’d encourage people to get them while they can, it’s going to sell out.”
The musical revue was conceived and directed by award winning Broadway producer and director Michael Chapman.
The show features four entertainers performing hits by four of the most iconic musical styles in pop music history. Songs will include Beatles classics like “I Want To Hold Your Hand, She Loves You, Hard Day's Night, Help, Can't Buy Me Love, Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby and Let It Be.”
Bee Gees songs include “Jive Talkin', Tragedy, Nights On Broadway, How Deep Is Your Love and Staying Alive.
A Beach Boys set will highlight their nostalgic hits “Surfin' USA, California Girls, Help Me Rhonda, Barbara Ann, I Get Around, Kokomo, and Good Vibrations.
In addition, the audience will also be treated to a variety of well-known Motown classics such as “I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Tears Of A Clown, My Girl, My Cherie Amour and Stop! In The Name of Love”
All told, the retrospective features over 50 legendary songs choreographed into one Las Vegas-style show, according to the show’s writer and director.
“Obviously, any one of these groups could fill an entire evening and more,” said Mr. Chapman. “I looked at, one, what are the most recognizable and most popular songs of those groups’ catalogs, and two, I wanted to suit myself harmonically and choreographically with the songs that would best lend themselves to the production.”
Mr. Chapman, who has more than 50 years of experience in the entertainment business, says he conceived the idea for “Four by Four” following the success of the first production he and choreographer Paul Holmquist created called “Oh What a Night!”
That production was a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
