To the Editor:
In response to a recent opinion letter entitled "Morristown man expresses views on Trump's reelection agenda, posted March 1", I wish to express the following partial rebuttal.
First of all, the letter itself is a disjointed, diatribe of liberal talking points typical of their barrage tactic used against those with differing opinions. But for brevity's sake, let's pick the topic of student loans.
Yes, I went to college. Yes, I accumulated debt. Yes, I paid it back in full. In that process, I learned one of the most important life lessons - personal responsibility. When the dissipation of that is encouraged you end up with a country much like we have now. It's time to stop that way of thinking and hold people responsible for the decisions they make. Pushing that debt off onto others is not only illegal, it is morally reprehensible. Individual freedom demands individual responsibility. Rushing to the teat of government (a.k.a., someone else's money) to solve your problems produces subjects not citizens and will ultimately destroy a country from within.
