PITCAIRN — A missing Watertown teen was found dead in a wooded area on Tuesday, according to state police.
Troopers worked alongside the NY State Forest Rangers in an attempt to locate missing 18-year old Kayla J. Spencer.
Officers and Forest Rangers conducted a foot search in a wooded area off Jayville Road in the town of Pitcairn when a Forest Ranger reportedly located a deceased female.
A St. Lawrence County coroner arrived on the scene and authorized removal of the body, police said.
The female was identified as Kayla J. Spencer, 18, of Watertown.
An autopsy will be performed at Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Forensic Pathologist, Doctor Scott Lapoint, on April 3, to determine the cause and manner of death.
This investigation is ongoing, and the troopers continue to ask anyone who has security cameras on Jayville Road or surrounding areas to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity.
If anyone has any information regarding this incident are asked to call the State Police at 518-873-2776.
