GOUVERNEUR -- Mary Weinert, 101 years young, passed away on January 14, 2024, at North Country Nursing Home. From Gouverneur, New York, she was one of 8 children who lived on a farm.

She married Robert Hockey in 1942 that ended in divorce.

She moved to Massena and worked at Alcoa during the war years.

For many years Mary worked at the A&P; when they closed she went to Acme as the Deli Manager.

In December of 1982, she married Arthur Weinert and had 11 Happy Years. They took many trips around the North Country and traveled to Florida and California.

Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also went to the Grace Methodist Church. She did Arts and Crafts at the Church.

She was also a member of the Stars and Grandmothers Club.

Mary loved having family and friends visit. Going out to a meal with friends or family was one of Mom’s happiest times.

Mary was always willing to help family and friends. She loved her dogs, listening to books, and watching the Yankees.

Mary had three sons. Larry, deceased, David & wife, Kathy of California, Robert & Mari of North Carolina. Stepson Kevin Weinert, Grandson, Stephen Hockey, and four other grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

We are so thankful for Joyce Labaff who treated Mary like a Mother, neighbors, and friends along with the caring Aides who helped Mary live in her home for many years.

Mary loved life and when in pain did not complain. Saying, “I’ve had a good life”.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends may call on January 27, 2024, beginning at 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.
