Martin J. Gleeson Jr., 74, Heuvelton

HEUVELTON -- A funeral service for Martin J. Gleeson Jr., age 74, will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Bill O’Brien officiating.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM until the start of the service. Martin James Gleeson Jr. of Heuvelton, NY passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Martin is survived by his three children, Joshua (Alexis) Gleeson of Heuvelton, Kara (Jason Corkins) Gleeson of Tazewell, TN, and Jordan Gleeson of Heuvelton; his six grandchildren, Willem, Carolyn, Colston, Cadence, Mason, and Cindy; three sisters, Cheryl Gleeson, Daryl Person, and Eileen Daniels; two brother in laws, Frank Person and Kim Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Peg Gleeson; his brother Tim Allen; and mother of his children, Cindy Jenks Gleeson.

Martin was born on November 29, 1949, in Watertown, NY to the late Martin and Peg (Haymond) Gleeson.

He attended and graduated from Indian River High School in 1967. He went on to attend Mater Dei College and graduating from SUNY Canton with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

He married Cindy Jenks on October 15, 1977, which later ended in divorce. He taught at Mater Dei and was a registered nurse at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and St. Lawrence NYSARC.

Martin enjoyed travelling with his friends Ken and Raymond, musicals, and spending time with friends and family.

He was a member of the Pro Musica, Sons of American Legion, Heuvelton Lions Club and NYS ID/DDNA serving as President from 2014-2015 and Corresponding Secretary until 2022.

Those that knew Marty loved him; he was a kind and gentle man with a big heart, laugh, and incredible stories.
