OGDENSBURG -- Marilyn Havner Walker, age 71, a long-time resident of Lancaster County, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Moravian Manor Communities in Lititz, PA.

She was born in 1952 in Ogdensburg, NY, the youngest of three daughters. Marilyn grew up swimming and fishing in the St. Lawrence River, looking over at Canada. She used to say their family once drove their Chrysler across the river during one particularly cold winter.

Marilyn was a woman of many accomplishments. In pursuing her education, she earned a BS in Sociology with a Psychology minor from the University of Hartford in 1975 and later obtained her MS in Clinical Psychology from Millersville University in 1997.

Marilyn had a robust professional career including being the Founder, Director, and CEO of synergize! A business aimed at bringing the insights of personality testing and organizational psychology to big business via Human Resources coaching and executive search consulting.

Additionally, she lent these skills to incarcerated women as a volunteer leading class on resume development, personal marketing, and job search strategies.

Marilyn authored a regular column in Lancaster papers for several years, “Take the Right Turn On Red.”

She also was Director at the Employee Assessment Center at Success Performance Solutions, and Branch Director for the adoption agency, Bethany Christian Services.

Additionally, Marilyn worked as a Psychotherapist at Lancaster Regional Health Center and was involved in local theater as a Performer at Actor’s Company of PA, EPAC, and Theater of the Seventh Sister.

Marilyn was an active member of her community, belonging to organizations such as The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry, New Choices through PA Women Work and the YMCA, and Psi Chi, the international honor society in Psychology.

Above all her achievements and individual interests, she cherished spending time with her children and the love of her life, Jim Bramble, of Brownstown. She is survived by her daughters, Kali Havner of Asheville, NC, and Janae Campbell of Lancaster, PA, as well as her sons, Nathan Havner of Portland, OR, Ryan Havner of Asheville, NC, and Deven Havner of Charlotte, NC. Marilyn doted on her grandchildren, Lilah and Finn, of Portland, Oregon, as well as Ruby, of Asheville, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
