COLTON — The Friends of Higley Flow State Park will host volunteers at the park as part of more than 100 cleanup, improvement and beautification events happening statewide on Saturday, May 4, as part of the state’s I Love My Park Day.

Work at HFSP will include beach clean-up, garden upgrades and weeding, painting, woodchip placement, trail maintenance and campsite clean-up.

Higley Flow offers spacious, private, wooded sites, three of six camp loops electrified, recently replaced shower, bathroom and beach houses, two playgrounds, a boat launch and a new, handicapped kayak and canoe launch scheduled to be installed later this summer. In the off season there are over 10 miles of hiking and walking trails, in the winter months converted to groomed ski trails with an equipment rental facility on site, and a heated lodge/nature center.

The event is sponsored by the Park and the Friends group.

Those interested in volunteering in the project at Higley Flow State Park can register to volunteer by visiting www.ptny.org/ilovemypark, by calling 315-323-1862, or by showing up the day of the event. All participants, pre-registered or not are asked to stop at the toll booth on their way in.

The Friends of HFSP is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting activities and educational opportunities at the Park. It grooms and track sets the trails for the winter enjoyment of xc skiers and snowshoers, also offering opportunities for all ages to enhance their skills. kIt provides activities and support of Park programs in the other seasons as well.
