Barbara I. Sheppard, 88, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Barbara I. Sheppard, age 88 of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday (Jan 1, 2024) at 2:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral.

Mrs. Sheppard passed away on Dec 25, 2023, at her home with her son Jerry by her side.

Surviving are seven children, Paula Giglio of Weaverville, NC, Lyle (Carol) Wyman of Goose Creek, SC, George (Mercedes) Wyman of Bronx, Donna (Johnny) Lewis of Mechanicsville, Donald (Karen) Sheppard of Norfolk, VA and Jerry (Stacia) Sheppard of Ogdensburg; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dalton Sheppard on Feb 14, 2022, and 4 sisters, Carolyn Groulx, Ruth Roscher, Keitha Maria of Ogdensburg, and Darlene Lucas of St. Petersburg, FL.

Barb was born on October 6, 1935, in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late George & Frances (LaFave) Roscher.

She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for her education and was later married to Lyle Wyman which ended in divorce. She later found love again and was married to Dalton M. Sheppard on August 20, 1971.

During her career, she worked at JJ Newberry’s, Simpson’s Drug Store, and Newell Manufacturing until she retired in 1970.

Barb enjoyed ironing for her family, cooking, traveling, cleaning, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
