Arthur W. Connor, 89, Morristown

MORRISTOWN -- A Graveside Service for Arthur W. Connor, age 89, of Morristown, NY, will be held in the Spring with military honors at Sunnyside Cemetery in Morristown, NY, at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Connor passed away on Thursday morning, February 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Arthur is survived by his two children, Melanie Connor of Morristown, NY and Kimberly Baumhofer and her husband, Mark, of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; grandchildren, Jennifer Payne of Mandeville, LA; John Payne and his wife, Genevieve, of Rockland, MA; Matthew Payne and his wife, Alexandra, of Chesapeake, VA; Clea Baumhofer and her husband, Jason Mathias of Baltimore, MD and Signe Grozier and her husband, Joshua, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Connor of Morristown, NY and Kirsten Connor of Charlottetown, P.E.I.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arthur is predeceased by his two brothers, Joseph Connor and Thomas Connor.

Arthur was born on June 24, 1934, in Massena, NY, the son of the late J. Henry and Catherine (Heverly) Connor.

He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1952.

Arthur went on to serve in the United States Navy in March of 1953, earning the China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1957.

During his service, Arthur married Carole Barr on October 19, 1956, at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. White officiating. She predeceased him on February 19, 1989.

Arthur remarried on August 30, 2003, to Annamarie J. Turbett in Morristown, NY. She predeceased him on January 27, 2013.

Arthur was employed by the United States Postal Service in Ogdensburg, retiring in 1990 as Postmaster.

Arthur, a devoted boating enthusiast, whose passion for life revolved around the gentle currents of the St Lawrence River. Arthur's legacy includes his love for navigating the waters from his home in Morristown to Kingston Ontario and beyond. He was a proud member of the Power Squadron enjoying the camaraderie of other boaters.

Beyond the riverbanks, Art enjoyed the greens of the St. Lawrence Golf Club and Tara Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, FL.

Arthur's spirit will forever sail in the hearts of those who shared his love for the River and the many friends he made on the fairways.
