Ann L. LeClaire, 82, Massena

MASSENA -- The family of are with heavy hearts, announcing her unexpected passing on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.

A graveside service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena on Beach Street on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Judy Van Keenan officiating.

Ann was born to the late William and Rosemary (Dailey) MacFarlane on January 30, 1942, in Potsdam, New York.

Ann attended schools in the North Country graduating from high school in 1960.

Ann went on to obtain her bachelors in English, where she taught for a brief time, before changing direction on her career.

She was employed at the Massena Planned Parenthood for a time before starting her career with St. Lawrence County as a Probation Officer. Ann retired from her role after many years of dedicated service.

Ann belonged to the Red Hat Society and was also a very community minded.

Supporting many different causes and loved to help out anyone in need.

Ann was a truly thoughtful individual with a selfless nature of caretaking and putting others first.

She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her special friend, Fred Felix.

She was also very active in women’s athletics for several years with her participation volleyball and softball.

Ann could also be found outdoors, enjoying nature while camping at the cabins in Saint Regis Falls.

Ann is survived by her loving son, Aaron and wife, Samantha Phenix of Dundrum New Castle, United Kingdom and her two grandchildren, Andrew P and Danielle A. LeClaire both of Portland, OR.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Karen in 2001 and a sister, C. Gayle in infancy.
