In response to the Sound Off “Life Jackets At Beaches,” which ran in the July 22 issue of North Country This Week: this is a serious allegation that begs follow-up and correction whether the story is true or made up. What beach was this? Who told you your daughter could not be in the water with a life vest? Was that in a teaching area, open swim area, or what? What was the specific reason if any you were given for disallowing the life vest? Was the life vest the correct size for the child? Boat certified doesn’t mean it was safe for your child. Why not just switch to “swimmies” or something else approved for children? If these complaints are true, people will gather around and see that it’s either straightened out or fixed.
