I have been hunting since the late 70s and I remember a good day of hunting was just seeing a deer. Now 38 years latter we are right back to those days. I have hunted state land for the past 10 years and there is no deer. Actually, I saw three does last year and this year I haven't seen a single deer. This is the same land that I always saw at least one deer every time I went out. The last buck I got was 12 years ago. So, for the DEC to ask to pass on smaller bucks…yeah right, not until DEC changes its way it manages deer populations to bring the overall deer herd back.
