In response to “Disgusting Properties” which appeared in the May 18-25 issue of North Country This Week: almost four years ago I went to our local officials in hopes that they would investigate neighboring properties which were clearly in violation of code - multiple wrecked cars and other used vehicles, discarded furniture, piles of scrap who knows what. Not only is this property violating code, but it presents health and environmental hazards as well. Apparently our code officer - despite actually seeing this dump - will not take action unless someone (a neighbor) files a written, formal complaint. Whose job is it to enforce code anyway? I have lost hope that our local officials have any interest in addressing this issue.
