I read the article in the Courier regarding dissolution. To quote one resident: “maybe the people outside the village should be paying a little more for things we all use.” A couple of those mentioned were the Potsdam airport and museum. I live in Norwood and have never used the airport or museum and doubt I will. I realize they are referring to other things as well but those were the two mentioned. Yes I travel to Potsdam using their roads and am protected by their police while there but come on! Do Village of Potsdam residents use village roads exclusively? Do none of them travel to other villages and make use of any of their facilities? I also travel to Canton and Massena. Do I need to start helping them pay their taxes too? Do they need to help pay Potsdam taxes because they travel to Potsdam? Where does this end? We in Norwood will have to change our sign from “Welcome to Norwood, a nice place to live” to “Welcome to Norwood, the highest taxed municipality in the county.” Thanks anti-village of Potsdam people. Hope we can reciprocate by dissolving our village so you can help me pay my high taxes. Incidentally, I will start the petition should I need to.
