In the July 16-22 edition of North County This Week there is an article that indicates that Casella Waste Systems has been “scolded” by the state for overly restrictive and punitive contracts, possible abuse of market dominance and restraint of competition. In the article it mentions that “the company will be also making a $100,000 payment to the state.” Is this a fine for their wrong-doing? Shouldn’t part of that money be returned to their customers? The state has not been hurt, local customers of Casella Waste Systems have been.
