In response to “State Probe of DA Could be Expensive” which appeared in the April 27-May 3 issue of North Country This Week the St. Lawrence County Legislature’s request for an investigation for the potential removal of the district attorney could cost at least tens of thousands of dollars, and possibly much more. But Legislator Joseph Lightfoot said not addressing the problem could be expensive as well. Lightfoot's comment on the unknown cost is most likely understated beyond measure. Perhaps before anyone runs to the voting booth next time, how about a little background study on who it we are trying to vote in, why we are voting for that person, and if our personal vendetta, grudge, gripe, or disagreement is really worth the wait-and-see-what-we-get outcome? We all (reading this) apparently at least care about what goes on in our surroundings, or we would not be reading this. Some of us are liberal, some of us are conservative and, unfortunately, the rest are just ambivalent. Our votes truly do affect the every day lives of everyone in our communities, so before going into the polling place, consider what the outcome will be, because the one thing we all can be assured about is that the only one who cares about you on election day is you, and not any candidate.
