This ice storm reminds me of the 1998 ice storm when the Village of Potsdam was without electric power because its contract with Niagara-Mohawk did not allow the Village to use its own hydro power. A contract is now being drafted for the sale of power from the new hydro plant and I demand that the contract provide for the Village’s use of its own hydro power during another ice storm or comparable calamity. I don’t want to hear about engineering problems and costs. It is up to the Potsdam Village Board of Trustees to look after us.
