Many people who live just outside the village to avoid paying Potsdam property taxes earn very good money working at Clarkson, Canton-Potsdam Hospital and SUNY Potsdam. 75 percent of Potsdam property is not taxable largely because of these institutions. The over-burdened, tax-paying property owners in the village need relief; a flat village income tax on all money earned in the village would provide relief!
