As many of us feared, the outpouring of support for unrestricted handgun licenses has fallen on deaf ears. I recently wrote a letter expressing my desire to have the restrictions lifted from my license and, sadly, Judge Richards denied my request. In my letter I simply stated that as a law-abiding citizen I felt it was my right to own a handgun for any legal purpose. When I received a generic, impersonal response it became clear that Mr. Richards has no intention of lifting restrictions from any permit. If you are one of the many, people in St. Lawrence County who have a restricted handgun license, don't bother trying for an unrestricted one. It seems clear that Mr. Richards wants to limit our rights in this regard.
