To whoever suggested we all give “donations to Africa” instead of giving candy to kids at Halloween, I respond: Did you send any donation last year? Do you want us all to send money instead of celebrating Halloween? Our street gets 100 to 150 trick-or-treaters! Parents from rural areas bring kids in by the carloads. We love it. I would like to thank all those parents for helping their kids with fabulous costumes and how polite and sweet the kids are. Many kids bring a UNICEF box. I always put money in their boxes. Go ahead and “Opt Out” of Halloween but don’t draw attention to yourself as some great humanitarian. I don’t believe it. I will be handing out 3 to 4 pieces of candy per kid to make up for you, no worries. I will also donate money to those kids with UNICEF boxes.
