I was born and brought up in Massena and to this day love my hometown and plan on returning. When I got out of college in 1983 to return to Massena in the hopes of following my father’s footsteps and working at Alcoa. That idea vanished due to layoffs at that time and I was forced to leave and find work out of the county. To be honest I think that Massena could have prepared themselves for the future better than they have. They have run off any and all large companies and ideas to grow. Massena needs to go back to its roots and exploit the tourist attractions at hand and benefit from it, develop what’s already in place. Seaway and the St. Lawrence, camping, beaches what better place to advertise, build waterfront restaurants, docking, fishing…hey let’s throw in an amusement park, something! The growth is there people.
