A tale of North Country kindness

Following up on “North Country Kindness,” I would like to give a shout out to some staff members of Lawrence Avenue Elementary whose kindness got me out of a pickle on a snow afternoon. I was late picking up my granddaughter because I had to leave my car “hung up” on a snow-covered ice bank. The school secretary, Sarah, and school counselor, Sue, had already been trying to locate me, when I arrived breathless, having trudged across the campus on the snow and falling on the unseen ice. Hearing my story Sarah located a couple of maintenance men who quickly began shoveling. Sue then drove my granddaughter and me around to my car and helped the men maneuver it off the ice bank. My heartfelt thanks go to these good Samaritans who cheerfully went the “extra mile” to help out a stuck grandmother. I was both lucky and blessed by the willing assistance of those very kind people. Hurrah for Potsdam Central School personnel.
