Syria has been in the news for using "cluster bombs." The news has reported that use of these bombs constitutes a war crime. Cluster bombs disperse many tiny unexploded bomb that are similar to land mines, which are also banned and a crime of war. The United States used the same cluster bombs in the Iraq War and frequently used radioactive "depleted uranium" shells that spread radiation (and genetic mutations in children) across the Middle East. The Unites States never gets reported for war crimes in the media even though Bush used: cluster bombs, depleted uranium, and torture to win the hearts and minds of the Iraq while spreading democracy.
