I am a senior at SUNY Potsdam, and I have lived off campus for two years with two different landlords. I chose the nicest apartments I could find, with seemingly nice landlords.  After a while living at each place, I began to notice that students are often taken advantage of and their problems written off. I am currently living in an apartment with multiple safety issues that my landlord won’t fix, and a maintenance man that continuously harasses me.  I have been told to stop asking the landlord to help me with these things -- “it’s not her job.” It is absolutely ridiculous, and something needs to be done to help student renters get fair treatment.  It is not fair that we are ripped off because we are younger. We still pay the same rent, and we still have to follow the rules. Why don’t the landlords?
