While I will admit that some teachers have been around way too long, I also have seen students who don’t give a hoot about what they do in school. I’m not that old, but I can guarantee that the crap that students pull in school now would not have been tolerated and their parents would have been notified and the children disciplined. The teachers are so afraid of kids these days, they can’t teach, they referee. You can’t yell at the kids--that’s unkind, you can’t discipline them--heaven forbid to hurt their feelings, you can’t send them to the office--the office doesn’t care! Tell me what they are supposed to do if your little charmers can’t sit still for 6 hours and actually learn something. It’s not the teachers who are missing the boat when it comes to test scores, it’s the students who don’t give a damn about tests.
