Students are not quitters

In response to “Americans Aren’t Quitters” which ran in the April 22 issue of North Country This Week, really? If you would educate yourself you may see that Common Core tests are not for the students. If a student gets a section wrong, they can't even find out where their weaknesses are. The tests are to evaluate the teacher, and could even get the teacher fired. I know you're probably saying good! Get rid of the crappy teachers. But we all know as parents there are kids who are learning but, like myself, suck at exams. There are kids who have a horrible home life and that comes into play, and God knows there's plenty of that. But more than that, it’s been said that the people making the tests stand to make billions. And guess who is funding Gov. Cuomo's campaign? It is all about the money, not our kids or what is best for them. Our kids opted out, and they are not quitters, 96 average in fact. I said they can do what they wanted. My daughter said she didn't want to be a part in getting anyone fired, its not fair. Good for her!
