In response to the May 24-30 North Country This Week Sound Off “Dead Birds” it stated “Aubudon says wind turbines cause 140,000 to 228,000 dead birds each year. Somebody has to stop them.” Let’s put this in context. Cars may kill 60 million birds per year. Somebody has to stop people from driving. Domestic cats kill between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds each year. Somebody has to stop them. As many as 988 million birds die annually in window collisions. Somebody has to get rid of windows.
