It’s strange how the populations of two countries can become angry at each over some political posturing by their respective leaders. The CBC comes to Ogdensburg and interviews Canadians and local US citizens and you will note that the Americans convey a welcoming, “sorry for the gaff, don’t take it personally” response and the Canadians seem to bristle with a bit of anger, yet they are here buying our cheap gas. My wife and I decided to take the Canada route to the coast of Maine to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary on Monday (right after the name calling incident), and we were rudely pulled in for an aggressive interview and told we would probably be there for several hours. Fortunately calmer heads must have prevailed as we were on the road in less than 30 minutes. Needless to say we came home this weekend through the good old USA, and spent our money for food and gas here. My wife and I vowed that it would be a long time coming before we head over the border for dinner, shopping or just visiting events and/or museums…pity isn’t it?
