St. Lawrence County saw near record temperatures Thursday

Posted

Unseasonably warm temperatures were felt throughout St. Lawrence County Thursday as temperatures climbed into the 70s coming close to setting records in several towns, according to Weather Underground.

Highs in the southern part of St. Lawrence County near Gouverneur and Star Lake reached 71 degrees, just one degree shy of tying the record of 70 for Nov. 6 set in 2005.

The temperatures were recorded at KGTB Wheeler-Sack International Airport in Fort Drum, which is the nearest National Weather Service recording station for the southern part of the county.

The reading of 73 degrees at the official National Weather Station at Massena's Richards Field for Potsdam and Massena nearly beat the record of 78 degrees set in 1948.

Highs topped out at 73 in Canton and Ogdensburg which was not quite enough warmth to best the high of 75 degrees in 1951.
