I could not agree more with the recent Sound Off “Speed Zone Woes” (Nov. 21-28) - in regard to the area state and some county highways being littered and choked off with needless speed zones over the past ten or so years. The drive from Potsdam to Massena used to be reasonably pleasant -now it’s a hassle every single time. The zone from Potsdam all the way past the Walmart is even more ridiculous. It’s hard to imagine that any single person could think any of these zones were or are a good idea. People work hard to earn their living up here (I am a native), and being forced to crawl all over the place makes it more difficult. I live on a state highway outside of town in a 55 mph zone, and I cannot imagine being selfish enough to think that a speed zone on my stretch of the road would be a good idea.
