The recent discussion of should Massena or Ogdensburg be selected as the sole regional airport definitely caught my attention. My short answer is neither, but rather Potsdam. It is the most logical choice, because of its geographical location. One regional airport would result in higher load factors along with better flight schedule times, more daily flights and possibly larger aircraft. The current St Lawrence Valley airline operations will go right down the tube, if Essential Air Service is dropped. Has been looked at every year. Time to regroup and work together to formulate a viable plan that can work without a subsidy.
