First, I am thankful to have a job. If you want to work the jobs are out there. Retail employees do not sign up to work holidays when they are hired. This is never discussed during the hiring process. It is relatively new for many retailers to be open on holidays. The hours/holidays they choose to be open changes each year. Who would ever imagine a department store being open on Easter or Thanksgiving with shopping hours until 1 a.m.? The only thing that would change it is if people boycott and choose not to shop on those days. Everyone should work retail just one day in their lives, how about on Thanksgiving next year? I guarantee you will feel differently when you are on the other side of the sale. So much more to working in retail than most people realize. Be kind.
