Problem: St. Lawrence County wants to raise the sales tax 1 percent. Solution: I frequently travel to New Hampshire. If the politicians are unwilling to make the needed cuts and continue to insist that a tax increase is the only way, then I will be buying everything in New Hampshire sales tax free. I realize that the amount that I contribute to the overall sales tax collected is minimal. This is my small way of protesting. I will encourage my friends, family and neighbors to also buy out of area. I would even be willing to travel to Watertown and pay their sales tax just to spite our county legislature. The real solution is to cut spending. I have had to prioritize and cut specific items from my personal budget, it is about time that the government does the same
