A friend of mine was pursued recently buy a Norfolk police officer and lost his life. My understanding is the officer had obtained the driver’s personal info during the pursuit and still continued the pursuit. Why did this officer not wait and deal with the infraction at another time? He was afforded that choice and chose to continue his pursuit. This officer put the lives of others at risk. Not only his own but anyone who happened to be nearby. Had the pursuit been halted, this driver woulld have most likely slowed down and gone home and a tragic incident could have been avoided. Some will say well someone else could have been hurt by the driver. Think about it. Is there more safety for everyone if the driver is being chased? Shame on this officer for making such a senseless decision.
