In response to “Supporting Local Businesses” which appeared in the Oct. 29 - Nov.4 issue of North Country This Week: I also believe in supporting local businesses. However, local businesses need to consider how to make it better for their customers. Is your store accessible to handicapped people? Do you have a public restroom? Are you open after 5 p.m.? Are you open on weekends? Will you open on Black Friday? Have you trained staff to be helpful? Do staff use hello, please, and thank you? I don’t mind spending a little extra at a local shop if I can do it after normal work hours, and be treated well.
